Our “Colorado Ice Clinic” is designed to elevate your ice climbing skills to feel confident in Colorado’s iconic ice parks and backcountry locations. Join us for a 1-day comprehensive ice climbing course. This course is recommended for top-rope ice climbers who are looking to feel confident in Colorado ice parks and top-rope access backcountry locations. This hands-on clinic will help you build a specific foundation of skills and knowledge to climb safely and confidently in Colorado.

Itinerary
This full day course will focus on refreshing knowledge on ice climbing gear, vocabulary, ice grades, hazards, assessment and safety management, technique and movement. During lunch we will talk about guidebooks interpretation and avalanche awareness.. Top-rope belaying instruction and basic knots. Top- rope anchor building, set-ups and different techniques. Rappelling techniques in single-pitch settings.

Price Includes: Full day instruction with Professional Ice climbing guides, Climbing equipment including harness, helmet, crampons, ice tools, belay devices, and other group gear.

Excludes: Transportation to and from the South Platte Ice Wall. Personal items such as lunch and snacks, water, personal winter climbing clothing (warm hat, gloves, jackets, pants etc).

Top-Rope Ice Climbing Techniques: Master the basics of climbing WI 3-4 ice with proper technique and efficient movement.
Anchor Building: Learn to construct safe, reliable top rope anchors in various settings.
Essential Knots & Systems: learn to build and use applicable rope and anchor systems for top roping Ice routes on natural and man made anchors.
Belaying, Lowering, and Rappelling: Learn specic techniques for managing ropes and belaying in the vertical ice environment.
Gear Knowledge: Familiarize yourself with ice climbing equipment, including proper maintenance and care.
Route Selection & Terrain Assessment: Develop the skills to evaluate climbing lines and terrain for safety and quality.
Layering for Success: Learn how to layer effectively for ice climbing to stay warmish and dryish.
Avalanche Awareness: a basic introduction to recognizing avalanche hazards and making informed decisions.
